The results were:

Mixed (open) 1sts’s (4 points) – Lost 9-4 (S.Arliss, L.Wong, A.Schvartz, R.Honey)

Mixed (open) 2nds (2 points) – Won 9-5 (S.Butcher, M.Simmons, J.Li, Y.Chen)

The conditions at York weren’t perfect by any means. Whilst there was plenty of space to play in and the Tables were great, the white walls and sheer darkness didn’t do us any favours. We played in the Sports Hall 2 years ago, no complaints there – why couldn’t we be in there again? Apparently York only train in there and play matches in the Sports Centre, and for a very good reason! Maybe we should make York play in the Viewing Gallery when they come here next year!

LUTTC are off to Roses tomorrow.  It’s looking very likely that Lancaster have lost this year already, but hopefully we can salvage some pride…

The Lancaster, Morecambe and District Table Tennis League Individuals Tournament marks the end of the league season and is a highly anticipated event on the LUTTC calendar. University A have officially won the Lancaster, Morecambe and District Table Tennis League Premier Division for the first time in the leagues history! Combined with University B’s Division 1 title, University C’s secure 3rd place in Division 2, and BUCS Men’s 1st’s league title and promotion and it all adds up to a very sucessful year.

It’s worth pointing out also that in securing these titles,Uni B and BUCS Men’s 1sts were all undefeated, with Uni A only having lost 1 match; some would say only due to Paul Cicchelli’s guest appearance for Galacticos.

Sort of. LUTTC are off to Nottingham today for the weekends BUCS Individual Table Tennis Championships 2009, held at Nottingham University. We have 6 members travelling, each playing in Men’s Singles and Doubles, with parings of: Stephen Arliss & Lok Wong, Robin Honey & Martin Simmons, and Robert Browne & Seth Butcher. With the tourament playing host to some of the best players in England, our chances of winning anything are very (very, very) low, but we will surely come home with many personal sucess stories! Keep your eyes out for reports!
